Naomi Strode
Naomi Mae "Susie" Strode, 74, of Fort Madison, died at 2:22 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at Fort Madison Health Center in Fort Madison.
Born May 11, 1935, in Kalona, she was the daughter of Charles Thomas and Jessie Mae Baines Fleming. On May 18, 1954, she married Floyd C. Strode in Tipton. He died July 11, 1994.
Mrs. Strode was a homemaker. She lived in Centerville for many years before moving to Fort Madison in 1987. She was of Protestant faith. She enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Carson of Fort Madison and Debbie Drake of Centerville; four sons, Raymond Strode and Floyd Strode Jr., both of Centerville, Shane Strode of Fort Madison and Mark Strode of Ottumwa; one brother, Harold Fleming of Baxter, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter, one sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison.
The graveside funeral for Mrs. Strode will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison with the Rev. Bill Willis officiating.
Memorials have been established for Lee County Health Department Hospice and Deacons of the Union Presbyterian Church.
